U20 AFCON: Senegal and The Gambia Reached AFCON Finals

Just like in the 2022 WAFU zone A final, both Senegal and Gambia will clash in the final of the 2023 U20 CAF AFCON after wins against Tunisia and the Gambia on Monday evening.

Senegal reached the final of the TotalEnergies U20 Africa Cup of Nations after Lamine Camara scored a double to help them to defeat Tunisia 3-0 in Ismailia on Monday.

The Teranga Cubs won the semi-final match emphatically after beating the Young Carthage Eagles at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium to secure their place in. the final.

Two goals from new FC Metz recruit Camara and a sumptuous strike by Pape Diop was enough to send Senegal to their AFCON U-20 final.

In the second semifinals of the day, The Flying Eagles suffered a 1-0 loss to the Gambia in the semi-final of the ongoing U20 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Adama Bojang’s early goal had the ultimate say in halting Nigeria’s chase for its eighth U20 continental crown.

The Nigerians were awarded a penalty kick deep into the second half, but Ahmed Abdullahi’s strike from the spot was smashed against the upright.

Nigeria and Tunisia will fight for the third-place position on Friday while the final between Senegal and the Gambia will take place on Saturday.

All four Semifinalists have qualified for the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia.
